During a severe ice storm on January 8,1973, a pumping station at the Atlanta Water Works exploded and burned, apparently due to an accumulation of natural gas inside the structure. The City of Atlanta and a host of subrogated insurance companies brought this suit to recover for the damage, naming as defendants Georgia Power Company, Atlanta Gas Light Company, Concrete Construction Company, and McDonough Construction Company.
