McCLOUD, Chief Justice.

This is a suit for accidental death benefits. The insured was intentionally shot and killed.

Velma L. Heyward, the named beneficiary of a group life insurance policy insuring the life of her husband, Bennie Hey-ward, sued the insurer, Republic National Life Insurance Company, seeking recovery of benefits under an accidental death rider to the policy. The policy provided for life insurance based upon the annual salary of the insured and accidental death benefits of $12,000 under the accidental death rider.
