This criminal appeal by Stephen Michael McGill arises from the First Judicial District Court, Caddo Parish, State of Louisiana. Following a jury trial, McGill was convicted of aggravated second degree battery, in violation of La. R.S. 14:34.7, and subsequently adjudicated a fourth-felony habitual offender and sentenced to the *874mandatory term of life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
