KIRSHBAUM, Justice.

The respondent, Pablo Sanchez, was sentenced to serve two consecutive four-year terms by the trial court as a result of his jury convictions of two offenses of vehicular assault, in violation of section 18 — 3— 205, 8 C.R.S. (1978 & 1984 Supp.). 1 Sanchez appealed to the Court of Appeals, and that court vacated the sentence and remanded the case to the trial court for imposition of a new sentence. People v.
