Appeal from a judgment of the Supreme Court (Smyk, J.), entered September 12, 1989 in Broome County, upon a decision of the court in favor of plaintiff.

Plaintiff is in the business of selling and servicing hardness-testing machinery and equipment used to determine the mechanical properties of metals and alloys. In this action plaintiff seeks to recover damages from defendant, one of its former employees, for breach of the noncompetition provision of the employment contract.
