The plaintiff lost the end of the first finger and the remaining three fingers of his right hand by having them caught between cogwheels on the side of a shearing machine while working at the defendant’s mill, where he had been employed for about a month. In the performance of his duties he was obliged to collect metal scrap waste from boxes located in different parts of the plant, and he was so engaged at the time of the accident.
