In this case of first impression, the court is obliged to resolve whether the transfer of the defendant’s case under General Statutes § 54-76c from the docket for youthful offender matters to the regular criminal docket of the Superior Court requires the court to exercise its independent discretion prior to transferring the case to satisfy all due process imperatives enshrined in both the fourteenth amendment to the United States constitution and in article first, § 8, of the constitution of Connecticut.
