Charley Williams was convicted of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.1 On appeal, he challenges the sufficiency of the evidence and the court’s failure to instruct the jury on his affirmative defense of justification. He also contends that he was denied his right *666to effective assistance of trial counsel and his right to a speedy trial. For the reasons that follow, we affirm.
