CARTER, Judge.

Defendant, Carl Eugene Sanders, appeals from conviction and sentence imposed upon his plea of guilty to false use of a financial instrument in violation of section 715.6, Supplement to the Code 1977. He contends that there was no factual basis to support his guilty plea.

In February of 1978, defendant was charged by trial information with false use of a financial instrument in connection with an incident the previous month in which he had unsuccessfully attempted to purchase items at a grocery store using a check made out to and endorsed by John Knowles.
