In this case the defendant, Curtis, recovered a judgment in the common pleas, against the plaintiff in error lor the sum of two thousand dollars, lor injuries alleged to have occurred to him while in the employ of said railroad company, as a switchman in the yards, having had his hand crushed and losing certain of his fingers. The accident is said to have occurred in 1886, at four o’clock in the morning, while it was dark and while he was attempting to couple two freight cars.
