This action was commenced November •29, 1895, for damages for personal injuries sustained by the plaintiff while alighting from the defendant’s train at Ke-nosha, December 31,1894. Issue being joined and trial had, the jury returned a special verdict to the effect (1) that the brakeman Marshall was standing on the east side of the car when the plaintiff came out of the car; (2) that while the ■plaintiff was standing on the last step of the car he extended his hand to the plaintiff for the purpose of assisting her in *302alighting; (3) that tbe plaintiff took bold of Ms band while sbe was standing…
