J. L. Mercer, doing business under the name of J. L. Mercer & Company,- was the beneficiary in a deed of trust in which W. S. Ayers was the trustee. The deed- of trust was executed on March 28, 1923, by James L. Wofford and Frances Wofford, covering the northeast quarter of section 4, township 5 north, range 7 east, containing 160 acres, in Crittenden County, Arkansas, and was given to secure a promissory note in the sum of $676, of even date, and other advances made by Mercer to the Woffords.
