We granted certification, 77 N. J. 497 (1978), to review the Appellate Division’s affirmance, in an unreported opinion, of Richard Howery’s conviction on three drug charges: possession of heroin with David Townsend and John Clark in violation of N. J. S. A. 24:21-20(a) (1); distribution of heroin with Townsend and Clark contrary to N. J. S. A. 24:21-19 (a) (1); and conspiracy with Townsend and Clark to distribute heroin, a violation of N. J. S.
