WILKINSON, Circuit Judge:
Emma C. Boyd was an employee of Delta Airlines, Inc. who participated in a life insurance plan administered by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (“Met-Life”) and governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (“ERISA”), 29 U.S.C. § 1001 et seq. At the time of Emma’s death in November 2008, the plan documents on file with Met-Life designated Emma’s husband, Robert Alsager, as the primary beneficiary of the plan. MetLife thus paid the…
