This bout between boxing heavyweights pits plaintiff, the World Boxing Council (the “WBC”), against defendant, sportscaster Howard Cosell (“Cosell”). In this diversity action, the WBC charges Cosell with libel for a passage in a book he co-authored with writer Peter Bonventre, entitled I Never Played the Game.
