Edward Sanford, of Morris, Illinois, held a policy of insurance upon his life, issued by the .¿Etna Life Insurance Company, plaintiff in error, for §5000, payable to his wife, Mary S. Sanford, defendant in error, within ninety days after due notice and proof of his. death. He died March 18, 1900, and the defendant in error brought an action of debt in the circuit court of Grundy county against the plaintiff in error to recover the amount of the policy.
