Following a jury trial, the defendant, Robert King, was convicted of two counts of assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (l) 1 and (3), and thereafter, he was sentenced to a total effective term of nine years of imprisonment to be followed by five years of special parole. On appeal, the defendant contends that his due process rights were violated by having been convicted after a legally inconsistent verdict, on the basis of the manner in which the charges against him were prosecuted, because the state did not claim, through its presentation…
