RIVES, District, Judge.

These cases have been presented and heard together by way of raising for decision a variety of questions upon claims of homestead. These questions arise under the late amendatory act of 3d March, 1873; and, so far as they are undecided by me, relate to the application of the relief thereby granted in cases pending at the passage of the act. The question of the uneonstitutionality of this act was decided by me at my spring term, in Lynchburg, upon very full and able argument; but I have been willing to reopen the subject and review my opinions at the instance of this…
