In July 2008, the trial court dismissed counts IV through X of plaintiff Kristen Kaufmann’s first amended complaint because plaintiff failed to comply with the applicable one-year statute of limitations under section 8 — 101(a) of the Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act (Tort Immunity Act) (745 ILCS 10/8— 101(a) (West 2006)).
