Defendants, John Ramey, Robert Jernigan and Lorenzo White, were convicted in separate jury trials of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1), home invasion (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 12— 11), residential burglary (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 19 — 3) and robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 18 — 1) after police discovered the bound, gagged and beaten body of 65-year-old Sylvia Wilson in her apartment located at Jackson and Homan Streets in Chicago, Illinois.
