This matter is before this court by virtue of exceptions filed by the Department of Taxation to an inheritance tax determination holding certain transactions tax exempt.

The decedent, James W. Faulkner, on February 2, 1949, about two and one-half years prior to his death, transferred by deeds two farms to two different grantees. These grantees were not related to the decedent; they were sons *of a former tenant of decedent. Both deeds conveyed absolute fee simple titles.
