LAND, Justice.

Defendant is indicted for having carnal knowledge of an unmarried female between the ages of 12 and 18. He was tried by a jury of five, and found “guilty as charged,” and was sentenced to he incarcerated in the state penitentiary at hard labor for a term of not less than one year and not more than 3 years from the date of his incarceration.

After verdict and before sentence, defendant filed a motion in arrest of judgment on the ground: “That the verdict rendered in writing and signed by the foreman of the Jury is null and void and is meaningless being as follows: ‘Guilly as…
