A. A. James brought a chancery suit in the Circuit Court of Doddridge county, alleging in his bill that on April 18, 1874, Jonathan Parks and wife by deed conveyed to John P. Burbridge a tract of forty seven and one half acres of land at the price of $650.00, of which $175.00 was cash, $75.00 was payable in one year, and the residue in four equal yearly payments, for which deferred payments Burbridge executed writings obligatory, in the deed called “notes,” to Samuel C.
