It seems to have been the intention, in the recent act, to consolidate into one act all the previous general acts of congress conferring jurisdiction upon the circuit court, and at the same time to give the court jurisdiction in some cases where no previous act of congress had conferred it. The court has now jurisdiction in suits between the citizens of different states, without regard to the fact whether or not one of the parties is a citizen of the state where the suit is brought.
