The appellant was indicted for killing Walter Bonham, the indictment charging murder in the first degree; he was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree, and was sentenced to the penitentiary for a year and a day.

On the cross-examination of Willie Stevens, a witness for the state, the defendant sought to elicit testimony showing that the witness and one Young, who was present at the time of the homicide, lived together as husband and wife.
