Carley, Justice.

After Willie Fred Bell was found guilty of malice murder, aggravated assault, and theft of a motor vehicle, the trial court sentenced him to life imprisonment for the murder and to terms of years for the remaining counts. Bell filed a timely notice of appeal to the Court of Appeals, which transferred the case to this Court.
