The note in suit, in which the plaintiff is the payee, bears date of July 18, 1921, and purports to be signed by both defendants. The defendants filed separate answers. The defendant Baker pleads forgery. The defendant Johnson admits the execution by him of said negotiable instrument, and pleads material alteration.
