The offense with which the defendant is charged is operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. This is a misdemeanor and a part of the penalty for the first offense is that “ his license shall be revoked for a period of sixty days and at the discretion of the court for a period not to exceed two years.” RSA 262-A:62 (supp); Laws 1963, 330:1.
