Carley, Justice.

In 1998, Michael Barrett was convicted of aggravated child molestation and two counts of cruelty to children. He was represented by two attorneys who served as public defenders. Barrett’s lead attorney at trial, Katie Anderson, also represented him on appeal. The Court of Appeals affirmed in an unpublished opinion. Barrett v. State, 244 Ga. App. XXV (2000). In 2002, Barrett filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus, based on the alleged ineffective assistance of counsel at trial and on appeal.
