It appears that on May 8, 1910, the owner of land, executed a mortgage thereon to secure the payment of a negotiable promissory note made by the mortgagor payable in one year to the order of Leslie E. Brooks Company, a corporation, the mortgagee. The mortgage was duly recorded on May 3, 1910, and on the same day the note and mortgage were assigned to Mrs. H. S. Northup. On November 3, 1911, the Leslie E. Brooks Company took another mortgage on the same property from subsequent owners of the land to secure the payment of a negotiable promissory note payable in one year. On January 24, 1912,…
