Freda and Jack Tinsley and their son John are Texas residents. On January 19, 1985, Freda Tinsley was badly injured when an automobile in which she was a passenger — driven by her son, John Tinsley —collided with a tractor-trailer truck in Louisiana. Mr. and Mrs. Tinsley executed in Texas a settlement with John’s insurer, Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company (Southern), for $50,000, growing out of John’s insurance policy contract made in Texas.
