Defendant Charles Sapp, also known as Charlie Allen Sapp, was charged in an indictment with “CRIMINAL ATTEMPT AT THEFT BY TAKING (AUTO),” “OBSTRUCTION [OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER] BY GIVING FALSE NAME,” “THEFT BY RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY,” and “CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY IN THE SECOND DEGREE.” A fifth count alleged that defendant was a recidivist, for having been convicted of “FORGERY (SEVEN COUNTS),” “POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE,” and “ROBBERY BY INTIMIDATION.” At defendant’s jury trial, Eunice Arkwright Bonaparte testified that her 1982 Grand Prix was…
