Defendant was found guilty of the offense of escape. OCGA § 16-10-52. Although defendant stipulated to the facts which formed the basis of the charge against him, at trial he moved for a directed ver*409diet of acquittal based on the State’s alleged violation of the provisions of OCGA § 17-8-50.
