The Court has before it an appeal from the order of the Virginia Employment Commission denying unemployment benefits on the ground that the complainant was guilty of misconduct connected with his work.

The misconduct alleged by the employer was violation of a company rule by his absence from work for three consecutive days without notification to the company. The notification provision is contained in Article 9, Section 1, Paragraph 1 of the union contract as follows: "When an employee is absent from work for three (3) consecutive regular work days without having…
