DUFRESNE, Chief Justice.

In the spring of 1968, one Robert Ober-stein, a student at Ricker College in Houl-ton, Maine, looking to a future career in crime detection, volunteered to work for the Houlton Police Department and the United States Customs Service as an undercover narcotics agent on the campus. His assignment was to obtain all the information he could respecting drug users and drug sellers in the college community.
