Foundering of barge BA-1401 in Chesapeake Bay, with total loss of her lading of some 1400 tons of sodium sulphate (salt cake) was attributed by the District Judge to unseaworthiness. On this finding he decreed damages against her owner, 1 appellant Hampton Roads Carriers, Inc. (Barge), in favor of ap-pellee Allied Chemical Corporation, cargo owner and charterer of the barge (Cargo).
