This is an action by a subcontractor against, among others, the general contractor to recover the balance due on a subcontract for work performed as part of an office renovation project. The central issue presented by this appeal is whether the subcontractor preserved its claim and privilege under the Private Works Act, La. R.S. 9:4801-55, by timely filing its state*449ment of claim -within the applicable sixty-day period under La. R.S. 9:4822(C).
