Petitioner brought a wrongful death action against respondent in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Jurisdiction was based on diversity of citizenship and amount in controversy. The jury returned a verdict for petitioner in the amount of *285$25,000, and the trial court denied respondent’s motions for a new trial and for judgment notwithstanding the verdict.
