In an action to recover damages for personal injuries, etc., (1) the plaintiff appeals, as limited by his brief, from so much of an order of the Supreme Court, Nassau County (Di Paola, J.), entered October 28, 1987, as granted that branch of the defendant’s posttrial motion which was to set aside the jury verdict as to damages as excessive, unless he consented to reduce the verdict as to damages to the principal sum of $15,000, and the defendant cross-appeals from so much of the order as denied those branches of its posttrial motion which were to set aside the jury verdict as inconsistent and…
