This appeal involves complicated issues arising out of the settlement of a suit seeking recovery for the personal injuries and wrongful death of Richard A. Berlier caused by asbestos-related disease. The parties to the settlement are the plaintiffs, Mr. Berlier’s survivors (hereinafter referred to collectively as “the Berliers”), and four of the numerous defendant companies, Turner & Newell, PLC (“T & N”), GAF Corp.
