DUNAGAN, Chief Justice.
This is a child custody suit. The suit was instituted by Emily Grimes, joined pro forma by her husband, Johnny Grimes, against Barbara Jean Knowles and husband, Jerry Knowles, and Billy Joe Sewell, for the custody of Christina Maria Sewell. Defendant, Billy Joe Sewell, did not file an answer and he is not a party to this appeal. Hereafter, Mrs. Grimes will be referred *604to as appellant and Mr. and Mrs. Knowles as appellees.
