This suit was brought by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company against the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta (Nashville Branch) and the American National Bank of Nashville to recover the amount of three checks on a Springfield bank deposited by the Railroad Company with the National Bank and cleared by that bank for collection through the Federal Reserve Bank. The Federal Reserve Bank sent these checks directly to the Springfield bank upon which they were drawn for payment.
