By act, approved February 18th, 1881, — "Pamph. Acts, 220 — the qualified electors of Escambia county were “ authorized to permanently locate the county site of said county by ballot.” For the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions of the act, the sheriff of the county was directed to order an election to be held within sixty days after its passage, “ said election to be governed, in every particular, by the election laws now in force, and the place receiving the largest number of votes shall be declared the county site of said county.” It will be observed that the pj-ovisions of this…
