The defendant was indicted for bribery, tried and convicted of the offense, and appeals from the judgment pronounced upon the verdict and from the order denying his motion for a new trial.

The first reason assigned by the appellant for a reversal of the judgment is that the court erred in permitting certain cross-examination of a police officer.
