This case concerns six minor children who had been brought into this country and left with Bette and Charles Winks in McLean County. In a proceeding brought in the circuit court of McLean County under the Juvenile Court Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 37, par. 701 — 1 et seq.) (Act), the Winkses were originally joined as respondents, but later “stricken” from the case. The minors were then declared to be dependents within the meaning of section 2 — 5(1)(a) of the Act (Ill.
