On December 2, 1966, Kenneth Mark Lewis, then a practicing general surgeon, was involved in a two-car collision with a vehicle driven by Harry Preis, at the intersection of 96th Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan. *1068The Preis vehicle, a small pickup truck, was owned by Beacon Rental Corporation and leased to Preis ’ employer, Standard Electro-Therm Corp. The car driven by Dr. Lewis was owned by Cars Unlimited Corp.
