Aroostook Mette-Njuldnir appeals his conviction of second-degree assault, entered following a jury trial, for which .he was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. Mette-Njuldnir raises two points on appeal: (1) the trial court erred in failing to hold a hearing to determine whether Mette-Njuldnir was competent to be tried and sentenced; and (2) the trial court erred in failing to sua sponte declare a mistrial because Mette-Njuldnir’s testimony suggested that he lacked mental fitness.
