This was an action brought against the defendants, who had become the assignees of the estate of John Strawbridge, in trust for the benefit of his creditors, upon certain conditions, to recover the amount of two dividends upon a note drawn by George Strawbridge for the accommodation of John Strawbridge, for thirteen hundred and fifty dollars, bearing date the 21st day of August, 1822, and payable sixty days after the date thereof to Jonathan Smith, or order, who endorsed it for the…
