Following a 1992 jury trial Marcus Brooks (Brooks) was convicted of first degree murder and armed robbery, and was sentenced to 50 years imprisonment. Brooks appealed, and we reversed and remanded for a new trial. See People v. Brooks , 277 Ill. App. 3d 392, 660 N.E.2d 270 (1996).
