A jury found appellant guilty of murder. Tex. Penal Code Ann. § 19.02 (West 1989). The district court assessed punishment at imprisonment for life.

On December 2, 1991, Eric Lowman, a soldier at Fort Hood, rented two motel rooms in Killeen. That night, Lowman and a number of his friends and acquaintances, including several high school students, had a party in the rooms at which a large quantity of wine and beer was consumed.
